old hands

My grandfather's hands are old, and he struggles to lift a boiled peanut from his right hand to his mouth with his left hand. But I, his granddaughter, cracked open the nut and offered him into his soft wrinkly hand, and I can tell he wants to show that he's still ready to interact with the world, even though his wife passed away over a year ago.

He doesn't speak much, and a lot of the conversation is limited to whether or not his food tastes good...

He loves to eat.

We visit him often. I can only hope that when I'm 90 (if I live so long!), I'll have children and grandchildren who visit me and make sure I'm comfortable in my old age.

On another note... I'm off to the seaside again - this time to Koh Samet (Samet Island), with my mother, my brother (P'Ed), his wife Sally, and their son, Sand. After that, I'm coming back to BKK, but heading straight up to Chiang Mai with my mother. So I won't be back in town until late on the 21st! And until then... no internet! Aaaargh!

Family time :)
