Egyptian airlines
Hmmm... never in my life have I flown an airline where the service is so poor, yet the attendants so friendly. Well, the male ones, at least.
Yes... well. They screwed up my vegan order and after a long debate amongst themselves over my head, put a croissant and pastry in front of my face. Hmmm... no egg, you say? Then when I asked for it to be removed, they shot me really dirty looks.
On the other hand, the male attendants kept inviting me to have coffee with them at the back. I went along the first time out of boredom, but found their company bored me more and politely declined the next three times afterwards and not so politely the next ten.
For some odd reason the off-duty captain who had helped me find the correct gate earlier presented me with an orchid upon entering Egypt, which I duly attempted to return, whereby he insisted that I present it to my mother as a gift from the captain. What is one to say? I think I'll stick close to my dad for the rest of the holiday. My mom was very curious as to why the captain would have presented me with orchids. Good question. No answer. People are freaky. And to whom it may concern, not giving away contacts is a VERY empowering experience. I think I should refrain from allowing people to contact me more often. I'll call YOU. IF I WANT TO... MWAHAHAHAHA!!!
Anyhow. Egypt. My parent's apartment is awesome... I earlier thought it simply had a view of the nile, but no... it is right on the banks of the nile, right smack in the centre of the city, and on an little island that is in the centre of the nile. Tres tres cool.
My dad's office is just a two minute walk from home, and it is also on the banks of the nile. Coolness, again.
Now, for some strange reason, my dad's personal assistant has gotten it into her head that I should be taking Arabic lessons. So erm... she's looking up courses and private tutors for me. ... cool... or? Not so sure. But I guess that should be fun.
My impressions of Egypt so far:
Very smoggy.
Not very high-tech.
People are friendly - TOO friendly.
I'm really sleepy cos I didn't sleep on the plane because the flight attendants kept calling on me. And coffees just kept landing up on my tray.
The plus side is that I caught the last movie, which was really awesome. It's called "Two brothers", and it's about these tigers in Laos. Highly recommended. Almost had me in tears. But it didn't. The only film that has ever made me cry to date is an animation: "All Dogs Go To Heaven". Don't think that will ever be beaten. Knock on wood. Never say never. Yeah, whatever.
