Suns rock
It's been a great couple of last days.
University started - on Tuesday was the first day, and my god - the law lecture bored me to a state of comatose, which, again, had me almost in tears leaving the lecture... I'm studying THAT???!!! Some smart-asses in the front of the lecture kept interrupting the lecturer with 'intellectual' philosophical ideas, and not saying anything about it at all. I could tell the lecturer was getting annoyed - but then again, he wasn't that exciting himself. My god, I was getting frustrated.
Erm... so why is it that I'm saying it's been a great couple of days?
Well... that's for me to know, and anyone who leaves a nice comment on my blog or writes me an e-mail to find out :)
On Wednesday morning, I had my first fiction writing lecture. I absolutely fell in love with the class... The funny thing is, when I was getting dressed that morning, I had this urge to wear a Sri Lankan necklace that my mother had given me, that she had bought from there something like 35 years ago, in the first few years of her career. Then, when I get to the class, it turns out that my tutor/lecturer actually comes from Sri Lanka. How odd. I hardly ever wear that necklace, because the gold it is made from is so thin and fragile. I wrote my first short story in years in half an hour in that first class! Go check it out in my creative writing link on the side bar!
In the evening, I went with Sidhaesh to listen to his friend, Krishna, play some soft rock at this place called First Floor on Brunswick road, after an absolutely wonderful vegan pizza at the Veggie hut, right across the road from it. Of course, anyone travelling with me is going to experience being completely lost for a while, because my sense of direction (or rather, lack thereof) seems to be contagious, and we spent a few happy moments chatting away somewhere along the route to Bundoora (it was 96, not 86 that we were supposed to get on).

Thursday - today, skipped uni to attend my final orientation - CQU Melbourne. An entirely international campus. I was a bit apprehensive at first, because I've never quite managed to figure out how that campus worked, but in the end, I had a good chat with Jeti, the person there, and my little speech was well received.
In the afternoon, I did a little shopping and got the final furnishings and electronics for me room... now it's my cozy home, and hopefully I won't be moving from here any time in the next few years while I finish off my degree! Just can't wait for all the stuff I got to arrive here tomorrow, so I can put together my beanbag chair and hang that big whiteboard on my wall (a much much much needed work accessory!)
In the evening, went to listen to the suns at the Laundry in Brunswick. They are a Singaporean band that is banned in Singapore for releasing 'political' music. Right on! Interestingly enough, I bumped into the former president of the Arts Society at Monash, who was trying to get his friend to tell his girlfriend that he wouldn't be able to make it to her 21st birthday... Hehehe...
Well.. the band rocked! And I got their CD! And the lead works at Monash! Coooooool.
Tomorrow ... arrrrrrr.... three hour law lecture. Good luck to me. Perhaps I'll survive it without falling asleep if I go to bed soon.
